For weeks now there has been one person most people would listen to. A calming voice. A scientist doctor. Facts. Pragmatism. Common sense. Dr. Fauci. At first it seemed the MSM had found their hero. He was their anti-Trump personality right their standing next to the President. Oh, heck. People like him. People trust him. He is making the Trump administration look highly competent.
Now all of the sudden the left (dems and their MSM handlers) were frantic. We can't have this. They have already built the "administration in disarray" narrative into the knee jerk psyche of their audience. If only we can drive a public image wedge between the good doctor and the Orange Monster. Mmmm.... Let's call the wedge true and go find the supportive "facts". Throw the flag and then go look for the pass interference.
Unnamed sources, unconfirmed sources, sources close to the President, reports are circulating... All acceptable to write the script you need at any time. You get the idea. A big mistake would be to think that what these media and political elite set out to accomplish surely can't happen. People have to be smarter than this. C'mon.
In this case it doesn't seem so now, does it. On the other hand this is part of the President's leadership challenge. There is no question Fauci helped forge an acceptable response direction. He has also had differences of opinion with the President. The press in turn has changed those differences into divorce proceedings.
